Here we will keep posting our future events, solo competitors and results. But first a little about the band...
Originally Waringsford was a flute band. Scince changing over to the highland bagpipes Waringsford has enjoyed many successes and spawned some great players into the piping world.
Players like Philip Bell, Ian and Lee Lawson, Mark Wilson all started at Waringsford as youngsters. Frank Gibson also played with the band for some years.
In it's prime Waringsford reach grade 3 competitions. Although possibly the best times were when we lifted the title of grade 4 world champions.
As many bands have, do and will still tell you, they experience highs and lows. The band have not been competing for several years now. There was for a while when the band struggled to get on the road! But Pipe Major Stephen Elliot and lead tip John Wallace, both two key men of Waringsford pipe band took it upon themselves to start up the band again. Now we have alot of youth in the band and the solos are a big part of our future.
Pipe bands are becoming more and more popular. Anybody interested can email me from the 'email' tab at the top of the page.
The Orange hall in Waringsford is being renovated. We are very lucky and thankfull that the lodge and members are taking an interest not only in the bands welfare, but are striving forward with an opptomistic mind and a possitive look to the future. We would encourage any young people especially from all the new houses going up in the local community to come down on a Tuesday night about 8 O'Clock and learn a new skill in music that will never leave you.
